Dr. Kimberly Bertrand, O.D., was born and raised in Dallas, TX. She attended Brigham Young University on academic scholarship and received a Bachelor of Science in biology. She then attended the University of Houston College of Optometry, where she graduated Magna Cum Laude with her Doctor of Optometry degree. She has completed internships specializing in oculoplastics, contact lenses, pediatrics and laser vision correction, as well as pre-operative and post-operative care for cataract surgery. Dr. Bertrand spent three years as an adjunct clinical professor at the University of Houston College of Optometry. She was an attending for the optometry students in the Cornea and Contact Lens and Family Practice clinics.
Dr. Bertrand comes to us from a large ophthalmology practice in Houston, TX, where she has specialized in performing comprehensive dilated eye examinations for the diagnosis and treatment of ocular disease. She is a therapeutic and glaucoma certified optometry. Her area of specialty includes tailoring prescriptions for patients with specific visual needs and treating patients who have autoimmune-related ocular inflammation and chronic dry eye. She enjoys seeing children, as well as elderly patients.
Dr. Bertrand is excited to be at the Southlake office and close to her home town where her parents and most of her siblings reside. Many in her family also share her interest in medicine. Her father is a successful obstetrician and gynecologist and has been practicing in Dallas for over 40 years at Walnut Hill OB/GYN. She also has 3 sisters who are nurses in the Dallas area. She is enjoying being able to spend time more time with her family. In her spare time she enjoys pilates and yoga, tennis, and jogging.
