Corneal Refractive Therapy (CRT) and Orthokeratology (Ortho-K) are innovative procedures that use specially designed gas permeable contact lenses to reshape the cornea. The purpose of CRT is to reduce nearsightedness and astigmatism and lessen your dependence on glasses or contacts. By using reverse geometry contact lenses, the cornea is flattened. This decreases or eliminates nearsightedness. When the desired effect is achieved, lenses need only be worn on a part-time basis (usually at night) to maintain the corneal shape. You can spend your waking hours free of glasses or contacts, and the procedure is completely reversible.
